ASIAN HANDICAP
The Asian handicap is a really attractive variant, widely used by professional bettors.
Betting using the Asian Handicap has a lot of appeal in soccer as it is the only major sport in which a draw is common and there are three possible outcomes in a match in the classic market, 1X2.
If you bet with Asian handicap, the possibility of a draw is ruled out. In short, it works in such a way that in a soccer match, the bookmaker or bookmakers assign both teams a handicap (an advantage/disadvantage in goals) at the beginning of the match to level the contest.
The main advantage for you as a bettor is that it gives an extra spice and appeal to your bet even if there is one of the contending teams that starts as a clear favorite.
In this case, neither of the two teams is assigned a handicap before the start of the match, which is why it is typical in football matches in which the level of the teams is very even. It is the simplest assumption and the same as the Tie market does not bet, in which you recover the money bet in case of a tie; namely:
- Your team wins = you win your bet
- Your team loses = you lose your bet
- Your team draws = you get your bet back
* Throughout this guide, when we say "your team", we mean the team you have bet on.
By opting for this handicap, you are assuming an advantage in favor of your team, but a really small one. By betting on this selection, you are hedging against a possible draw such that:
- Your team draws = you win half of your bet, and you get the other half back
- Your team wins = you win your bet
- Your team loses = you lose your bet
Here you bet, so to speak, that your team will win by at least 1 goal. Otherwise, you lose the bet. So:
- Your team wins = you win your bet
- Your team draws or loses = you lose your bet
If you choose this option, you do it trusting that your team will win, but you have some doubt that it will do it by more than 1 goal, and you protect yourself against it. You have this scenario:
- If your team draws or loses = you lose your bet
- If your team wins by 1 goal = you win half the bet, and get the other half back
- If you win by 2 goals or more = you win your bet
This handicap means that your team starts the match 1 goal behind, so to speak. Based on that:
- Your team wins by 2 goals or more = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 1 goal = you get your bet back
- Your team loses or draws = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 2 or more goals = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 1 goal difference = you lose half of your bet, and get the other half back
- Your team loses or draws = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 2 or more goals = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 1 goal = you lose your bet
- Your team loses = you lose your bet
- Your team draws = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 3 or more goals = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 2 goals = you win half of your bet, and get the other half back
- Your team loses, draws, or wins by only 1 goal difference = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 3 or more goals = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 2 goals = you get your bet back
- Your team wins by 1 goal, draws, or loses = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 3 or more goals = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 2 goals = you lose half of your bet, and get the other half back
- Your team wins by 1 goal, draws, or loses = you lose your bet
- Your team wins by 3 goals or more = you win your bet
- Your team wins by 1 or 2 goals, draws, or loses = you lose your bet
Now we go to the opposite cases. If you bet with a +0.25 handicap, you do it in favor of the team that starts as an underdog, believing that it has some chance of saving a tie, so it serves to protect you from it, as follows:
- The team ties = you win half of your bet, and you get the other half back
- The team wins = you win your bet
- The team loses = you lose your bet
In this selection, the team starts the game half a goal ahead, which is sometimes known as a double chance because:
- The team ties = you win the bet
- The team wins = you win your bet
- The team loses = you lose your bet
Here, the team starts with a considerable advantage, but does not reach the goal. This will get you half of your bet back if you lose by one goal. It would look like this:
- Team wins or draws = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 or more goals = you lose your bet
- The team loses by 1 goal = you lose half of your bet, and get the other half back
The underdog, the team you are betting on, starts with a 1-0 lead. Since a tie is not possible:
- The team loses by 1 goal = you recover the bet
- The team draws or wins = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 or more goals = you lose your bet
- Team wins or draws = you win your bet
- The team loses by 1 goal = you win half of your bet, and you get the other half back
- The team loses by 2 or more goals = you lose your bet
- The team wins = you win your bet
- The team draws or loses by 1 goal = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 or more goals = you lose your bet
- The team wins, draws, or loses by 1 goal = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 goals = you lose half of your bet, and get the other half back
- The team loses by 3 or more goals = you lose your bet
- Team wins, draws or loses by 1 goal = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 goals = you get your bet back
- The team loses by 3 or more goals = you lose your bet
- Team wins, draws or loses by 1 goal = you win your bet
- The team loses by 2 goals = you win half of your bet, and you get the other half back
- The team loses by 3 or more goals = you lose your bet
- The team wins, draws, or loses by 1 or 2 goals = you win your bet
- The team loses by 3 or more goals = you lose your bet
- The team wins, draws, or loses by 1 or 2 goals = you win your bet
- The team loses by 3 goals = you lose half of your bet, and get the other half back
- The team loses by 4 or more goals = you lose your bet
